Kolkata,24th August,2026: A Panama-flaggedcargo ship, MV Ocean Winner, sank in the Bay of Bengal off the Odishacoast on Saturday ( 22/08/2026) , triggering a major search-and-rescueoperation. The vessel was carrying 24 crew members and around 72,100 tonnes ofiron ore when it sank approximately 230 nautical miles from Paradip.

Two crew members were rescued from life rafts and arereceiving medical care. However, 22 others remain missing. The crew included 20Chinese nationals, three from Myanmar and one Bangladeshi national.

The Indian Coast Guard and Indian Navy haveintensified search operations, deploying ships and a P-8I surveillance aircraftto locate the missing sailors. Rough sea conditions are making the operationdifficult. Authorities are continuing their efforts to find survivors anddetermine the circumstances that led to the vessel\\\'s sinking.
