Agartala, October 2, 2026: An investigation has been initiated into allegations concerning the collection and utilisation of crowdfunding money raised for the medical treatment of Manshree Chowdhury, a child suffering from Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA).

West Tripura District Magistrate Dr. Vishal Kumar said that an inquiry is underway and that Raja Saha and Dhruva Chowdhury have been asked to provide details of the funds collected and their utilisation. Both have reportedly submitted written responses, which are being examined by a designated committee.

The DM also said that allegations concerning an HDFC Bank transaction, if proved through evidence, could lead to a fraud-related criminal case. Separately, two women reportedly submitted a complaint at West Agartala Police Station seeking clarification about the collection and expenditure of the funds.

Authorities are examining financial records and other documents. No wrongdoing has been established so far, and Manshree’s treatment should continue uninterrupted.
