IMD Issues Heavy Rainfall Alert Across Several States
New Delhi, 27th August 2026: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast widespread rainfall, thunderstorms and lightning across several parts of India from August 26 to September 1. Heavy to extremely heavy rain is likely in isolated areas, particularly in parts of the Northeast, eastern and central India. Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya are expected to receive widespread rainfall during the period. Strong winds and thunderstorms may also affect some regions. The weather conditions could cause waterlogging, flooding and travel disruptions in vulnerable areas. The IMD has advised people to remain alert, follow local weather updates and take necessary precautions during severe weather.
