India’s Space Economy Set for Major Expansion

New Delhi, 27th  August 2026: India’s space economy is expected to grow significantly, reaching $40–45 billion by 2030, according to government data. The sector, currently valued at about $9 billion, is being driven by rapid growth in private investment, startups and commercial space activities. India’s space startup ecosystem has expanded from just one company in 2014 to around 440 startups in 2026. Recent policy reforms have encouraged greater private participation in satellite manufacturing, launch services and space technology. The government aims to strengthen India’s position in the global space industry through innovation, investment and public-private partnerships, creating new opportunities for economic growth and employment.
