Tripura Appoints 42 General Duty Medical Officers

Agartala, 26th August,2026 : Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Tuesday handed over appointment letters to 42 newly selected General Duty Medical Officers (GDMOs) at a state-level programme held at Pragya Bhavan in Agartala.

The appointments are part of the state government’s efforts to strengthen healthcare services and fill vacant positions under the Tripura Health Service. The latest selections were made from the active recruitment panel after the government expedited the process to fill the remaining vacancies.

According to officials, the recruitment was conducted through a merit-based selection process under the state’s public service commission system. Earlier, the government had requisitioned 224 GDMO vacancies, while 152 selected candidates had already completed their joining formalities.

Speaking at the programme, the Chief Minister highlighted the importance of strengthening the healthcare workforce to improve medical services across the state. The newly appointed doctors are expected to be posted at government health facilities to address manpower shortages and improve access to healthcare, particularly in underserved areas.

The appointments mark another step towards expanding and improving Tripura’s public healthcare system.
