Agartala, October 11,2026: The Tripura Olympic Association has received around three kanis of government land near Motor Stand and Pagla Debata Temple in Agartala to construct its proposed Olympic Bhavan. The West Tripura district administration completed the land handover process on October 10, marking an important step towards strengthening sports infrastructure in the state.

The association plans to develop a multi-storey building that may include a sports museum and other facilities. However, the architectural design, project details and construction timeline are yet to be finalised.

Sujit Roy, an official of the association, expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Manik Saha, Sports Minister Tinku Roy and industrialist Ratan Saha for their support. Association chairman Ratan Saha and Padma Shri awardee Dr Dipa Karmakar are expected to contribute to preparing the project plan.

The association hopes to organise a foundation ceremony after Durga Puja, subject to consultations with the state government. The proposed facility aims to strengthen the association’s institutional infrastructure and preserve Tripura’s sporting heritage.
