Nepal Flood: 157 Dead, Hundreds Missing

New Delhi, 26th August,2026: A devastating flash flood struck Nepal’s northern Rasuwa district near the Tibet border, leaving at least 157 people dead and hundreds missing. The disaster swept away villages, roads, bridges and hydropower infrastructure along the Bhote Koshi River.

Rescue teams, including the Nepalese Army and police, have been deployed to search for survivors. Helicopters are also being used to reach isolated areas and transport injured people. However, heavy rain, damaged roads and difficult terrain are making rescue operations challenging.

The flood has caused widespread destruction and displaced many residents. Authorities have urged people living in vulnerable areas to move to safer locations and remain alert to further flooding and landslides.

The government has promised emergency assistance to affected families and is coordinating rescue and relief efforts. The disaster has highlighted the serious risks Nepal faces during the monsoon season.
